HubSpot works for outside reps when they can do the job from the truck: look up the customer, check pricing, place the order. The mobile app handles contacts, notes and calls. Quoting, ordering and email logging from the phone are where it falls short, and those are the things a field rep does all day.
An inside rep sits at a desk with the ERP open in another tab. An outside rep is standing in a customer’s shop. If the answer to “what did they pay last time?” means calling the office, the rep stops opening HubSpot.
For a distributor’s field team, that list is short:
These are gaps we have hit in live builds:
Fairbank Equipment is an industrial equipment distributor. We connected Epicor Eclipse to HubSpot so reps quote and order from HubSpot without opening the ERP.
From HubSpot, reps can create, advance and cancel orders in Eclipse, and edit line quantities and customer prices. A mobile order placement card went live in August 2026, along with UPS tracking inside HubSpot. Training ran across several sessions, on desktop and on mobile.
The result: 9 outside reps created 49 bids from HubSpot in 90 days, with order IDs written back to Eclipse. Epicor Eclipse to HubSpot →
For California Mobility, we built a custom quoting tool on top of HubSpot. It works offline and on mobile, filters add-ons to the products they fit, packages common configurations into one tap, and gives reps a margin view only they can see. It’s built and rolling out to the sales team.
The alternative they were quoted was a packaged quoting tool at $650 a month, with no end date. The custom build pays back inside about a year and the client owns it.

If your reps already work in HubSpot but quote and order in the ERP, start with the integration. The mobile pieces only pay off once the data is there. HubSpot ERP integration → or HubSpot for distributors →
For contacts, notes, calls and tasks, yes. For quoting, placing orders and seeing ERP pricing, not on its own. Those need either a connected ERP, a custom quoting tool, or both. Check which of those your reps need before you judge the app.
Yes, when HubSpot is connected to the ERP. Fairbank’s reps create, advance and cancel Epicor Eclipse orders from HubSpot, including from a mobile card. Native HubSpot connectors don’t reach most distribution ERPs, so this is a custom integration.
Usually because the native integration depends on each rep’s device and sign-in. Emails sent from a phone, or received while desktop Outlook is closed, don’t create contacts. Server-side logging removes the rep from the process, at the cost of open and click tracking.
